Fr. Richard Rocha is a priest for the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. He was born in Atchison, KS and raised in St. Joseph, MO. Before entering seminary, he was a football coach for 14 years. He coached on the high school level for 10 years and the college level for 4 years. He was a head football coach for 4 of those years.
After 14 years of teaching and coaching, Fr. Rocha pursued God’s call to the priesthood and entered Mundelein Seminary in Illinois. He was ordained a priest on June 1, 2002. He has served as Secretary to the Bishop and Master of Ceremonies for 4 years. He is currently the Director of Vocations for the diocese, and is entering his 6th year.
Fr. Rocha is also involved with the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Missouri District Friar from 2002-2004, and 2006-2010. He was the Missouri State Chaplain from 2004-2006.
When asked if he misses coaching, he comments, “I’m just coaching on God’s team now.”
