Fr. Matthew Wiering grew up on a farm in rural, southwestern Minnesota. While he often felt called to the priesthood during high school and college, it was not until he was teaching religion at Bishop Sullivan (now St. Michael the Archangel) Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, LA, that he began really to desire to do whatever was God’s will for his life. He entered the seminary and was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ in 2010. During the first three years of his priesthood, Fr. Wiering served as parochial vicar, high school theology teacher, and interim principal of Cathedral High School in New Ulm, MN. Since July 2014 he has served as the Director of Vocations for the Diocese of New Ulm. Fr. Matthew blogs at Miserando atque Eligendo. Follow Fr. Wiering on Twitter at @FrMWiering.
