Friar John is a Conventual Franciscan priest ordained in 2009 at the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation where he first met the friars as a teenager. Today he is the Vocation Director for the Province of Our Lady of Consolation (the Midwestern Province of the Conventual Franciscans) and strives to live the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ in imitation of St. Francis of Assisi. Born November 26, 1966 he draws from an eclectic background of previous jobs including: tree planter, camp counselor, tour bus driver in Alaska, ski patrol in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State, and park interpreter. Previous assignments during his Franciscan formation have been in San Antonio, TX; Mishawaka, IN; Washington D.C.; San Jose, Costa Rica; St Paul, MN; and Terre Haute, IN. He is currently stationed at Mount St. Francis, IN. In his free time, Friar John enjoys bird watching, playing the guitar, downhill skiing, and hanging out with friends around a campfire telling stories. Come join the campfire camaraderie and he will share a story, or two! Discover more about the Conventual Franciscans at www.franciscans.org. Read Friar John’s blog at www.FriarTruck.wordpress.com
