Father Benjamin Lehnertz was born to an Air Force family and moved around the United States throughout his childhood. He grew up enamored with all things athletics, especially baseball. His faith took flight after encountering Jesus in the Eucharist at a high school youth retreat with his home parish, Holy Name of Jesus. Fr. Lehnertz chose to attend Ball State University in Muncie, IN so that he could study telecommunications and play baseball. By the end of his first semester, God had radically changed his passions, centering them on his faith. He dropped his major and quit the baseball team in order to begin pursuing his call more seriously. Accepted by the Diocese of Orlando, he was sent to St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami, FL and St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, FL. Fr. Benjamin was ordained to the priesthood on May 25, 2013 and is a parochial vicar at Annunciation Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, FL. He still enjoys athletics, movies, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. You can hear more of his homilies on his YouTube channel.
