Denver Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila was Jerry’s guest. His Excellency discussed his upbringing in Southern California, first hearing God’s call to the priesthood in his middle school years. He entered college as a medical student where he says the Lord continued to tug at his heart. Archbishop Aquila would soon thereafter enter the seminary where he clearly learned that Jesus wanted him as his priest. He says his greatest joy as a priest is teaching others the faith; the love and mercy of God, offering the sacrament of reconciliation while also bringing people back into the Church.
Archbishop Aquila was ordained for the Archdiocese of Denver in 1976. He is the first rector of St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, which opened in 1999. He served as Bishop of Fargo, ND before being named Archbishop of Denver in 2012.
Archbishop Aquila is chaplain on the first Vocation Boom Holy Land pilgrimage December 28, 2015-January 6, 2016.
